The role and position of cultural factors in the convergence of countries in the Iranian civilizational area

Abstract

The role of culture and cultural factors in the human environment is an undeniable fact, and geographical space is always influenced by culture and is shaped by it. In recent decades, the influence of culture in the world of politics has been a topic that has attracted the attention of politicians and thinkers, because the cultural component is effective in many political behaviors and processes on national, regional, and international scales, of which regional convergence can be mentioned as one of its examples. The Iranian civilizational sphere is a region in the Asian continent where the countries in it have special cultural commonalities, However, to date, due to reasons such as conflicting interests and different ideologies of regional governments, as well as the formation of independent national identities, convergence with the cultural factor has not taken place in this area. the present study, with a descriptive-analytical approach and relying on library resources and field research based on the expert questionnaire tool, has examined the role of culture in the convergence of countries in the Iranian civilizational sphere. In this study, the Iranian civilization area consisting of the Iranian Plateau, Central Asia, and the South Caucasus was considered, and four cultural factors including language and dialect, religion, race and ethnicity, and general were examined in this civilization area. The results of the study show that among the four cultural factors mentioned, general culture is more important than other factors due to its inclusion and comprehensiveness in the Iranian civilizational area.
