Abstract

Islamic Republic of Iran is an important country energy producer in the world. Iran in terms of proven oil reserves second in the world and the fourth largest oil producer in the world is. Iran's gas situation is equally impressive; Iran has the second largest proven gas reserves and is the fourth largest gas producer. In addition, geopolitical and geostrategic position of the Islamic Republic of Iran from access to sensitive marine waters and waterways connecting point between East and West, and energy production and consumption market is unique. However, Iran's high capacity is still not to their actual position in the field of energy. There are many internal and external factors that are threatening the Iranian energy sector. The main argument of this paper is that international sanctions is one of the most important factors of the external environment is targeting Iran's energy security; The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of international sanctions on energy risk, foreign investment and technology to the oil and gas industry in Iran. The results show that the sanctions disrupt the country's energy market, rising energy risk and prevent the entry of technology and investment in the oil and gas industry.
